Today is the last time that I do the website of the day slot on Mike Rimmer’s evening show on Cross Rhythms Radio. I start a new job next week, and this is the last time this week that the show goes out live.
So, farewell to all my fans (well, both of you). I hope you’ve enjoyed the sites I’ve managed to come up with over the years. You can keep on pestering Mike for something to replace my contribution – it’s not going to be easy 🙂
Today’s website of the day is the utterly pointless and yet bizarrely charming Tyson the Skateboarding Bulldog. About which I will say nothing more – you just have to visit the site to get the full effect.
It’s been a long break, but we’ve actually got a website of the day again today!
Today’s site is a rather nifty online application that takes images on your computer and blows them up to giant size, then creates a multi-page PDF of the resulting image that you can then print out on a series of A4 or letter sized sheets of paper to create a tiled poster. Simple, but really quite cool. Have a play, at www.blockposters.com.
Want to know what time the sun will rise where you are? Or when it will set? If so, there’s a website just for you. The handily named www.SunriseSunset.com will give you sunrise and sunset times (as well as other useful information such as moon times and phases) for any location in the world.
Today’s site is the inimitable www.HowMotorwaysWork.co.uk – and if you think that’s a boring topic, look again. All the lowdown on middle-laners, white van men, repmobiles and all the other drivers that just don’t seem to get it. On the other hand, if you recognise yourself in any of these descriptions – maybe you could learn something.
is a meta-site linking to lots of other sites giving useful information about the history and traditions of Christmas. Essential reading. It’s all there at Christmas in Cyberspace.
Another Christmas-themed website of the day today. Reindeer Tipping is a neat little Flash game where you have to, er, tip reindeer. That’s “tip” as in tip them over (like cow-tipping), not as in giving them extra money at the end of the meal for good service. See how many you can tip.
Another belated website of the day posting (I had a network problem yesterday which stopped me making the article live at the same time as it was going out on air), but better late than never. If you want a few minutes of fun and you like films, then Viking – the stationery people – have created a quiz consisting of movie posters made up of stationery. It’s more find than it sounds – some of them are realyl very creative. Test your knowledge at www.stationerymovies.com.
This was yesterday’s website of the day, but I forgot to press the “save” button before closing the browser.
Anyway, if you want some inspiration for a last-minute present, particularly for the geek in your life, then check out Pointless But Cool. It’s full of stuff that’s pointless, but, er cool. It’s great!
I didn’t get round to posting the website of the day in the blog for the past two days, for a variety of reasons but mostly a lack of circular tuits. So, for anyone who was wondering where they were, the ones you’ve missed were:
Tuesday – www.cowsgomoo.co.uk
Wednesday – www.joyofcakes.com
