Mark's Musings

A miscellany of thoughts and opinions from an unimportant small town politician and bit-part web developer

I’m running out of ideas

I need some suggestions for website of the day. I have a short list, and a few sites which do much the same kind of thing that I check regularly, but I don’t have a lot in reserve at the moment – and I hate having to trawl through the underside of the web at the last minute in order to come up with something.

So, if anyone reading this (or should that be “if anyone is reading this”?) has a suggestion or two, I’d be very happy to hear them. The requirements are fairly simple:

  • Must have a radio-friendly URL – that is, one which I can easily read out on air and listeners will be able to remember.
  • Must be a family-friendly (aka “work-safe”) site.
  • Must be free at point of use (no subscription sites).

I prefer sites that are interesting, unique, odd or useful in some way. The more bizarre and off-the-wall the better, as far as “odd” goes. I generally avoid commercial sites unless I really think the product is good – I’m not in the business of giving free advertising. Topical is also good. Excessive advertising – especially popups – is bad.

Thoughts, anyone?
